Local Truck Driving Careers in Portland and St. Louis
Bridgetown Trucking offers local driving opportunities from our Portland, Oregon, and St. Louis, Missouri, terminals. Our drivers work with local operations teams, newer equipment, and clear expectations for safe, dependable service. Local routes mean drivers return home daily.
Driving assignments vary by terminal and customer needs. In Portland, the work can include local pickup and delivery, Terminal 6 ocean-container drayage, rail moves, and warehouse transfers. In St. Louis, drivers support local and regional freight, rail drayage, and warehouse-related transportation. Some assignments involve dedicated customers, while others require multiple pickups and deliveries throughout the day.
The work matters. So do the people doing it. Bridgetown operates its own fleet, coordinates dispatch locally, and expects everyone to do the work right. We look for experienced drivers and qualified candidates who are ready to learn and meet that standard.
Driver Pay and Benefits
Bridgetown offers a benefits package for eligible employees at both terminals. Specific eligibility and plan details are provided during the hiring process.

Equipment and Safety
Bridgetown runs local routes in the Portland and St. Louis markets. Drivers work with newer, dealer-maintained equipment, including tractor-trailers and, depending on the assignment, box trucks. Both terminals offer full-time, part-time, floating, and on-call opportunities. Schedules and assignments vary by position.
The work may involve pre-trip inspections, logs, loading or unloading, forklift work where appropriate, and direct communication with dispatch. Because Bridgetown controls its fleet and coordinates maintenance, drivers work directly with the people responsible for equipment and daily operating decisions.
Safety isn’t a slogan here. It’s the standard.
Entry-Level Driver Opportunities
Experienced CDL drivers are essential to Bridgetown’s operation, but we also welcome qualified new CDL holders. Opportunities in straight-truck and local delivery operations can help newer drivers gain practical experience and prepare for future Class A positions. Available assignments depend on each terminal’s staffing needs and applicant qualifications.
Requirements vary by position. Class A driving roles require a valid Class A CDL and a safe driving record. Portland applicants must complete TSA background screening; this requirement does not currently apply to St. Louis positions. Bridgetown considers applicants based on qualifications and available opportunities at each terminal.
Working at Bridgetown
Bridgetown’s standards are straightforward: show up prepared, work safely, communicate clearly, and follow through. The teams in Portland and St. Louis do different freight work, but they operate with the same expectation: do the work and do it right.
